Open mic
What exactly is an open mic? An open mic provides a space for free expression. Whether you want to perform slam poetry, recite poetry, sing, play music, or perform drag, this space is for you. Each performance is limited to 3 minutes, and you can sign up at the venue. For this event, we invite you to share a performance paying tribute/femmage to the feminist, anti-racist, and/or queer figures who came before us: read an excerpt from a text or share an original piece (song, letter, poem, etc.). Who will you choose to shine a spotlight on? We know that taking the stage can sometimes be difficult. We do everything we can to ensure that the stage is a welcoming space where everyone feels heard. Discriminatory remarks (racism, whorephobia, LGBT-phobia, fatphobia, etc., etc.) will not be tolerated, whether onstage or off. If you or someone else experiences this, you can speak to one of us.
