La Folie Continue #3 welcomes Shezlöng and its hybrid universe, bringing together the traditional music of Anatolia, groove and trance. A true bridge between East and West.
Shezlöng was born from Alexandra Issartel’s love of traditional Anatolian music, which she discovered alongside the joy of singing it. Her desire to introduce and share this music led her to bring together musician friends and invite them to reinterpret songs she loves, drawn from both classical and popular music. The group was formed in Clermont-Ferrand in 2021. The ensemble’s open-minded approach has led it to rearrange the original compositions, exploring harmonic and rhythmic possibilities that differ greatly from those of Western music. Their shared love of groove, trance, mystical melodies, freedom of interpretation and improvisation – nuances and concepts that are central to traditional Anatolian music – drives them to blend their eclectic influences and electric instruments with music waiting to be rediscovered and shared, reinterpreted and transcended through the sound of a new generation of musicians. The result is a highly personal blend of funk, pop, soul and electronic music, immersed in a universal psychedelia that connects East and West. ----------------- As part of the Saison Méditerranéenne.
