Guided tour in French. Discover the mikvé, a little-known yet magical place in Montpellier, with a licensed tour guide! Montpellier’s medieval mikvé, a 13th-century Jewish ritual purification bath, bears witness to the importance of the Jewish community, which played a major role in the development and influence of Montpellier. Located in the heart of what was once the Jewish quarter, the mikvé is among the oldest and best-preserved in Europe. It is fed by a constantly renewed underground water table; the water emerges from an opening (or gargoyle) that symbolizes its passage. Departures every 30 minutes for 3 hours. Advance booking required.
