Young audience show as part of the Festival Radio France Occitanie Montpellier Momo lives in a circus with his grandfather, the famous clown Huberto, who expects him to become a clown too. But poor Momo does not like clowns. He prefers running between the caravans, watching Bettina, the beautiful acrobat, and one day he soars into the sky while trying his hand at the trapeze. He also receives help from the circus animals, his friends, who help him find his place under the big top: thanks to them, Momo will finally be who he truly is. Composed by Pascal Dusapin to a text by Leigh Sauerwein, this short opera for one narrator and four musicians premiered in 2002 in Nanterre. With humor and poetry, it evokes the mysterious world of the circus and brings to life a cast of characters who draw us into their dream. The music is lively, illusion springs from almost nothing (a puppet for Momo, shadow puppetry for the animals), Richard Dubelski throws himself into it and does not hesitate to try his hand at the cymbalum.
