The Angers Nantes Opéra choir invites you to Hell! The season’s first Toutes voix dehors event delves into the story of a man who, like the poet Orpheus, descends into the depths of the Earth, meets the king of the dead, and witnesses the frenzied rituals of the underworld.
The program features some of opera’s finest pieces, with the choir portraying both infernal creatures and humanity’s spiritual aspirations. The performance will include excerpts from Orphée aux Enfers by Jacques Offenbach and Faust by Charles Gounod, as well as works by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Camille Saint-Saëns, Giuseppe Verdi, Gabriel Fauré, and composer Marie Jaëll.
