After studying in France at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris and at Hunter College in New York, where he lived for 16 years, Édouard Prulhière has spent the past thirty years developing a multifaceted approach to painting. His journey through painting, sculpture and installation is neither constrained nor unidirectional. His work does not belong to any particular movement, even though it matured in the New York of the Nineties. Rooted in a modernity where every discovery is a conquest shaped by sacrifice, condemnation, choices and existential doubts, Prulhière breaks free from convention with the freedom of someone unconcerned about what tomorrow may bring—a contagious sense of delight.
