A true haven of peace in the heart of Parisian bustle, the most visited cemetery in the world is best known for housing the graves of male figures (Oscar Wilde, Chopin, Molière…).
Amid this maze of 70,000 departed souls lie the graves of women writers, artists, actresses and dancers who are just as famous. Together, we will retrace the incredible lives of these women, and in doing so bring back to life some great names, such as Colette, Edith Piaf, Rosa Bonheur, Sarah Bernhardt, among many others, whose tombs are sometimes the focus of curious rituals… This walk will also be an opportunity to rediscover the history of this fascinating place that is Père Lachaise. Laure will notably tell you the story of Paris’s famous lovers, Héloïse and Abélard, whose remains were transferred to the cemetery. For what purpose?
