From June 5 to 21, at more than 250 sites across mainland France as well as in Réunion, New Caledonia and Mayotte. For more than two weeks, the festival will invite the public to “listen to living things” through hundreds of free events for all ages.

Places of refuge and renewal where many French people enjoy sports, games, relaxation and well-being activities, forests also stand at the crossroads of many social debates. Driven by the desire to bring citizens closer to the forests near them, both public and private, and to bring together a wide range of stakeholders around the major challenges forests face today, Les Nuits des Forêts takes a sensitive and welcoming approach to helping people discover, share and marvel alongside those who care for the forest. After the success of previous editions, the Nuits des Forêts festival returns from June 5 to 21 in more than 250 forests, both public and private, in mainland France, Guyane, Réunion, for the first time in Mayotte, and also in 7 countries internationally. The festival aims to invite the public, young and old, to (re)discover the forest close to home while raising awareness of the importance of forests and the issues they face. It is also an opportunity to discover the diversity of activities that can be enjoyed in the forest and to meet the people who help maintain and protect them. For 17 days, hundreds of free events open to everyone are organized with the goal of bringing citizens closer to the forests near them. To do this, the festival offers a rich, educational and environmentally respectful program, with understated and local artistic contributions, to help people discover, share and marvel alongside those who care for the forest. By day and by night, performances, art installations, evening gatherings, bivouacs, walks guided by foresters and more celebrate the meeting between the fascinating world of the forest and the world of culture and the arts, while allowing people to reconnect with nature. Les Nuits des Forêts is also a special opportunity to discover the importance of forests through sensitive and unique experiences, such as nights in bivouac with storytellers, artists, scouts, forest-therapy practitioners and others, as well as meetings, walks and workshops led by professionals to discover wildlife and plant life, or training in good practices to adopt in the forest. To support this, the association Les Nuits des Forêts has created a Guide to Life in the Forest, distributed free of charge ahead of the event. In addition, students from elementary school through high school are invited to take part in Les Nuits des Forêts through a dedicated program.
