Step into the poetic and sensitive world of "Toi féminin essentielle, à nos grands-mères", a captivating play where words and dance come together to tell the life, emotions, and questions of a peasant woman from Anjou in the early 20th century. Adapted from Hélène Revaux’s novel, Nanette Loiseau, queniot d’Anjou, this creation pays tribute to our foremothers, to their strength, their doubts, and their struggles, bringing together the uniqueness of the Anjou dialect with a universal stage language. On stage, two artists – a storyteller and a dancer – embody, through their bodies and voices, Nanette’s dreams and struggles from childhood to adulthood. In 50 minutes, we discover the birth and life of a young woman searching for meaning in a daily existence that is both oppressive and emancipating. This modern tale explores deeply contemporary themes: relationships with men, with one’s own body, with motherhood, and the passage into adulthood. "Toi féminin essentielle" is not only a journey into the past, but an invitation to question our inheritances and our identities. With a pared-down staging, this play brings to life a timeless fresco where every gesture and every word resonates like an echo of women’s struggles of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. This vibrant and intimate show reminds us how deeply our grandmothers’ questions still echo in our lives. A tender and luminous work that celebrates transmission and invites gratitude toward the women who came before us. ----------------------------------- Author: Hélène Revault Directed by: Marie la Mache With: Evelyne Bénard as narrator and Louise Dorey in dance.
