À propos

A magical journey into the heart of Korean folklore through a poetic, funny, and touching shadow theater story. For ages 4 to 99.

Compagnie Karrak presents an original shadow theater tale inspired by Korean folklore that will delight children and adults alike! In the depths of the ocean, the Great Dragon King has fallen asleep. His snores were so loud that they caused a very special egg to hatch: the egg of Imugi, a young apprentice dragon with only one ambition—to become a real dragon! To achieve his dream, he must set out in search of a celestial sphere and venture into the human world, where he meets Hyun-Ae, a little girl who is sometimes too well-behaved but full of surprises. Together, they must face Lord Tiger, who terrorizes the mountain, though his schemes often backfire on him. Will they manage to outwit him? Or will they learn that the answer is not always what it seems… Fairy tales have the wonderful ability to transcend cultures. In this play, each character draws from the Korean world while resonating with the shared European imagination. Here, the various tales borrowed from Korean folklore serve the story, while the story draws strength from these tales to convey universal values from an early age. In this case, violence solves nothing, and true courage lies in forgiveness. So come and discover the story of Imugi, and stay afterward to ask questions and learn more about shadow theater and how its puppets work! This show is presented as part of the Parisian children’s performance festival « L’été des p’tits futés », organized by Théâtre Darius Milhaud, located near the parks of la Villette and Buttes-Chaumont.
