On Saturday, October 10, Institut Pasteur is opening the doors of its Paris campus to the public for a special Pasteurdon event celebrating its 20th anniversary this year!
A day to discover, share… and take action for research On October 10, 2026, Institut Pasteur is opening the doors of its Paris campus to the public for a special Pasteurdon event. A unique day dedicated to discovery, sharing… and generosity. At Institut Pasteur, researchers are tackling the major health challenges of our time: emerging viruses, drug-resistant bacteria, cancers increasingly affecting young people… On October 10 and 11, get an inside look at how biomedical research is making a tangible difference to our health — and why supporting science means investing in everyone’s future. That is precisely the role of research: to find new ways to prevent and treat these diseases. · Cancer affects nearly 1 in 5 people during their lifetime and remains one of the leading causes of death in many countries. Although major progress has been made in recent years, some forms still have a poor prognosis, such as pancreatic and lung cancers. Others continue to raise many questions, particularly about their origins, their aggressiveness, or why certain treatments fail. Infectious diseases also remain a major threat. While research now offers hope of long-term HIV remission, new risks regularly emerge, particularly through zoonoses—diseases transmitted from animals to humans. Other threats are also growing, such as antimicrobial resistance, which could one day make infections that are currently mild much more difficult, or even impossible, to treat. Brain diseases affect millions of people: 1 in 6 children has a neurodevelopmental disorder, while diseases such as Alzheimer and Parkinson are becoming more common as the population ages, and the number of cases could double by 2050. For 20 years, Pasteurdon has had one clear goal: to give research the resources it needs to provide practical answers to the major health challenges that affect us all.
