Having reconnected during their studies together, Abdel, Jules, Thomas and Mehdi now play in various projects, both together and separately. They complement one another naturally and effortlessly.
Asmar offers a cohesive repertoire tinged with the influence of various periods of jazz, from Wayne Shorter to Walter Smith III. For Asmar, the compositions/arrangements are merely a playground from which anything can happen; at most, they are a starting scenario or a pitch. From this initial element, improvisation and interplay, underpinned by their listening and energies, will decide what happens next, the destination they will reach together, and the path they will take to get there.
