Beyond Brazilian Stories: an explosion of Samba Jazz Fusion!
Driven by irresistible energy, Beyond Brazilian Stories takes listeners on a musical journey blending Brazilian traditions with contemporary jazz. Born from the meeting of Mathieu Bélis and Stéphane Dardour, who were introduced to Brazilian music by Philippe Baden Powell, the project quickly grew into a bold quintet combining saxophone, drums, vocals, and flute. Through reinterpretations of works by major Brazilian composers and original compositions, the group creates a sound that is warm, inventive, and virtuosic. Their new album O ritmo do sonho (October 2025) was hailed as a “Revelation” by Jazz Magazine.
