Meet Brecht Evens, author of the comics Le Roi Méduse, Les Rigoles, Panthère…
Brecht Evens’s talent was noticed as soon as his first comic was published: Les noceurs received the prix de l’Audace at the Festival international de la Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême in 2010. Since then, he has published 5 graphic novels with Actes sud: - Les amateurs , 2011 - Panthère , 2014 - Les Rigoles , 2018 - Idulfania , 2021 - Le Roi Méduse, volume 1 , 2024 In these unsettling and magnificent works, shimmering colors and transparencies come up against violence, fairy-tale wonder against nightmare… His work has won several comics awards: Prix Spécial du Jury at the Festival international de la Bande Dessinée d’Angoulême 2019, Prix Gribouillis, Prix Les Inrockuptibles Bande dessinée.. Born in 1986 in Dutch-speaking Belgium, he now lives in Paris. His reputation, in France and abroad, extends beyond the world of comics. Wood engraving, lithography, etching, watercolor, gouache, India ink, collage… Brecht Evens exhibits in museums and galleries and works for the press and fashion. The talk will be hosted by Amandine Schmitt . A journalist at “Nouvel Obs” since 2011, she covers comics news. A book signing, in partnership with the bookshop Bulles en têtes , will conclude the event.
