A talk revealing all the connections between music and football, for the 2026 FIFA World Cup (06/11 - 07/19)
In this talk, journalist Olivier Pernot explores the close ties between music and football: supporters’ chants and stadium anthems, hits written for international competitions, musicians passionate about the beautiful game (Bob Marley, Oasis, Pete Doherty, Chico Buarque), and songs that celebrate football and its stars (Mano Negra, New Order, Vald). Not forgetting the footballers who have tried their hand at singing or rap, with varying degrees of success (Pelé, Johan Cruyff, Basile Boli and Chris Waddle, Karim Benzema). A talk full of anecdotes and surprises, magical moments, and moments of collective celebration! Olivier Pernot is a cultural journalist (Libération, Tsugi, Trax, A Nous Lille, L'Express), author of several books on music (published by Le Mot et Le Reste), and a speaker.
