The story of Jonathan Reith, a Deaf bookseller who passionately introduces books to Deaf people in an accessible way. He is also active on Instagram.

As part of the Paris Disability Month, Jonathan Reith, a signing Deaf person, will offer two events: - in the morning at 11 a.m., his favorite picks in graphic novels, manga and comics, where he will passionately introduce us to good books in an interactive format. - In the afternoon at 3 p.m., a talk where Jonathan Reith shares with us his journey, his work as a bookseller in a FNAC store in Chambéry, and his passion for the world of books (graphic novels, manga, comics, novels, etc.) and art. His goal is to make this culture accessible to Deaf customers through professional book advice. He is also a comics columnist on @biblio.jaune (Instagram). He will also present some good books to us. Jonathan Reith introduces himself: "I grew up surrounded by all kinds of books. A book is always with me, wherever I am. Around this passion, I developed a dream: to work in a bookstore. Being Deaf in sales professions is still not widely accepted. And yet, I managed to become a full-time bookseller. This job allows me to share my favorites with customers and, above all, to make this culture accessible to Deaf audiences, to spark a desire to read. It is also an opportunity to work more closely with publishers. To reach more Deaf people in the digital age, I started reviewing graphic novels, manga and comics on Instagram. My videos are first 100% in LSF, then subtitled to also reach hearing audiences, authors and publishers. My other dream is to raise awareness among authors and publishers that Deaf people are comics readers. I hope this will help plant the idea of including Deaf characters in their works. I would be happy to come and share my enthusiasm with you and discuss these topics."
