From the very first notes, the groove, elegance, and sensuality of his voice are captivating. A deep, instantly recognizable voice that immediately evokes the great figures of soul.
Born Mario Ranno in 1971 in Catane, he grew up in a musical world thanks to his father, the singer Stefano Biondi, whose stage name he adopted as a tribute to him. Fascinated from an early age by soul sounds, Mario refined his style between tradition and modernity, until fate intervened: his single "This Is What You Are," first released in Japan, caught the ear of legendary BBC1 DJ Norman Jay. The track quickly became a hit on European airwaves. In 2006, he recorded "Handful of Soul" with the High Five Quintet, an album with a decidedly jazz soul that propelled the singer onto the international stage. A string of acclaimed albums followed, including the double opus "I Love You More," a tribute to Duke Ellington, and "If," a triple platinum record. Backed by his 15-musician orchestra, Mario Biondi then embarked on a triumphant sold-out tour, performing on stages around the world. He appeared at the biggest European festivals, and in 2013, he fulfilled a dream: his first concert at the Royal Albert Hall in Londres. Today, with the 2025 reissue of his iconic track "This Is What You Are," Mario Biondi celebrates 20 years of an international career, surrounded by top-tier musicians such as Jazz pianist Antonio Farao', with a unique sound and a voice that continues to thrill audiences around the world.
