As part of Paris Disability Month, this film takes a tender look at five young people with autism learning to cook and serve in a restaurant in the heart of Paris. A screening to raise viewers’ awareness of autism. Come meet the film team after the screening!
Élie, Gabriel, Raphaël, Steeve and Saïd are five adolescents with autism. While their paths would usually lead them to facilities set apart from the world, an unprecedented project disrupts those predetermined trajectories. They will undergo training to learn kitchen techniques, plate presentation and dining-room service, until they are able to help run a real restaurant in the heart of Paris. “Café sans filtre” is a unique nonprofit restaurant where young people from IME Cour de Venise gradually learn the norms of work in a mainstream environment, in a setting adapted to their needs. Over several years, the film team followed them from their very first class through to the realization of a project that might once have seemed impossible. Film length: 1h09, followed by a discussion with the audience. Find all free events requiring registration at the bibliothèque Benoîte Groult.
