(Re)discover a dark chapter in French colonial history: the Indochinese Workers displaced and exploited in Dordogne between 1939 and 1952!

To mark the publication of his book Colonisés, déplacés, exploités on the Indochinese Workers sent to Dordogne during the Second World War, Pierre Daum presents the work he has been carrying out for twenty years on this buried chapter of France’s colonial past: the forced use of 20,000 Vietnamese peasants in mainland France’s arms factories between 1939 and 1952. A contributor to Monde diplomatique, Pierre Daum has reported extensively around the world, especially in the Maghreb and Asia. A specialist in France’s colonial past, he has published several books on Indochina and Algeria.
