An introduction to traditional Japanese embroidery

For young hands aged 11 and up, a workshop led by embroiderer Adeline Rofort. A fan of joyful, creative embroidery that is accessible to everyone, Adeline practices her craft in Hauts-de-France. She designs and leads custom workshops and is committed to passing on the pleasure of handwork, encouraging creativity, and building connections through embroidery. For this workshop, young participants will embroider a stylized design using the sashiko technique, a traditional Japanese embroidery style with simple, graphic patterns used to repair and reinforce clothing in an aesthetic way. Everyone will then be able to attach their patch to a shared smock as a symbol of the many lives of a garment — a garment repaired, decorated, and transformed. For young people aged 11 to 16. Registration is required with the librarians starting May 12, 2026.
