La Compagnie Manneïvore presents “The Cat Metamorphosed into a Woman,” a short, funny, joyful 60-minute operetta by Jacques Offenbach dating from 1858.
The work is inspired by a La Fontaine fable of the same name and features 4 characters: Minette (soprano), Marianne (mezzo), Guido (tenor), and Dig-dig (baritone). Discover the story of Guido, a young misanthrope in love with his cat Minette, who is about to learn a lesson. Under the suspicious eye of Marianne, Guido’s governess, a strange Indian magician named Dig-Dig and a mysterious woman with feline behavior lead Guido to believe that his cat has been transformed into a woman. Is the young woman really the incarnation of the missing cat Minette? You’ll find out when you come see the show!
