An iconic Corsican polyphonic ensemble bringing tradition and creativity into dialogue, A Cumpagnia—represented here by four singers and instrumentalists—presents a concert that takes the audience on a journey through time, spanning sacred and secular repertoires.
Active since 1978, A Cumpagnia cultivates the art of Corsican singing at the intersection of traditional practice and contemporary creation. Singing while playing one or more instruments, the ensemble's members are committed to passing on a constantly evolving repertoire that is both timeless and contemporary. Performing here as a quartet, they present a recital divided into two parts. The first part, Cantu Sacru, brings together sacred pieces, both old and recent, that reflect the spirituality deeply rooted in Corsican soil. The second part, Cantu Prufanu, features secular songs (paghjelle, terzetti and other lamenti) that accompany daily life on the island and express a remarkably vibrant collective memory.
