A participatory experience blending video games, hip-hop battle, and DJ set, by Compagnie par Terre / Anne Nguyen, as part of Game in Noisy 93 at the Micro-Folie de Noisy-le-Sec.
Do you like dancing? Do you like video games? How many hip-hop dance styles do you know? BATTLE SKILLZ invites you to test your hip-hop knowledge live and face off against other players in the SKILLZ video game. The goal: earn points as a team to win CHALLENGE cards that will let you set constraints for the dancers during the big BATTLE! During the event, you will be joined by 4 hip-hop dancers from different disciplines and a DJ and MC, who will introduce you to different styles of dance and music. Note: the team that scores the most points in the SKILLZ game will have the privilege of choosing the 2 dancers who will represent it in the BATTLE! To close the event, you will be invited to dance and learn a few basic steps during a DJ set with the dancers. Get ready by playing SKILLZ online, and feel free to come dressed to dance! Battle SKILLZ is the closing event of the Festival "Game in Noisy 93", led by the Micro-Folie de Noisy-le-Sec. Taking place from May 27 to June 6, it aims to showcase the richness and diversity of the forms that Video Games can take. Artist residencies, digital installations, gaming area, tournament, workshops, talks, exhibitions…: a polymorphic program around the 10th art, supported by many local partners. The event was designed for Game in Noisy 93, as part of the Nuit Blanche Métropolitaine, by Compagnie par Terre, artistically directed by choreographer Anne Nguyen. The performances of Compagnie par Terre elevate urban dances and explore their vital function by combining raw, virtuosic movement with geometric, deconstructed, and refined choreographic writing inspired by mathematics and martial arts. Created in 2005, the company has presented numerous performances on French and international stages. Anne Nguyen also created the SKILLZ video game, which is in the spotlight at this event. It features 39 dancers among the best known on the French hip-hop scene, from 11 different disciplines: break, hip hop freestyle, house, lock, pop, top rocks, waacking, voguing, hype, jazz-rock, krump… Audiences will enjoy finding most of the dancers from the various Compagnie par Terre / Anne Nguyen performances within the game. It is accompanied by dance videos cataloging the dancers from the different styles featured in the game, as well as playful artistic content (music playlists, video tutorial, 360° film, etc.) inviting players to start dancing!
