Directed by Louisa Lacroix and Victoria Neefs, Toast follows, in real time, four roommates on a night where everything changes. Confronted with an overwhelming event, each will retreat into their denial. But can we really escape catastrophe by keeping it at bay?
The Collectif Boîte Noire presents Toast, a play by Victoria Neefs, which will be performed on Wednesday, April 22, and Thursday, April 23 and 30, 2026, at 8:00 PM at the Voltaire Consulate, Paris 11th, followed by concerts and DJ sets. Toast is a closed-door drama that follows four roommates and their neighbor in the intimacy of their apartment on an apparently ordinary Friday night. They are between 25 and 30 years old. Friends for years or a couple for ten years, different affinities unite them. Only Carla, the fifth roommate, is missing to truly kick off the evening. Then a text message changes everything. Confronted with an overwhelming event, each one retreats into their denial, trying to keep the catastrophe at bay as best they can. In trying to escape the violence from outside, they end up letting it infiltrate their home. Here, the conflict does not arise solely from the event itself, but from their collective inability to face it. After the play, the evening continues. We invite you not to part ways and to write a happier epilogue together. Stay for a house party with our friends featuring concerts and DJ sets. Because unlike roommates, we can still choose to preserve what binds us. The play: 8:00 PM - 9:00 PM Concert and DJ set: 9:45 PM - 12:00 AM
