An immersive vegetal flow exploring the boundaries of perception.
Video, installation Vague verte is an immersive video installation built from the layering of multiple images of trees swaying in the wind. This process generates a continuous visual flow, close to a vegetal stream, in which forms gradually appear and dissolve. The image thus oscillates between figuration and abstraction, inviting the eye to move without a stable point of focus. The project developed from a reflection on the relationships between interior and exterior, as well as between natural and built spaces. By introducing a moving landscape inside an exhibition space, the installation seeks to shift the boundaries of perception and unsettle familiar spatial reference points. On the occasion of its presentation at the Académie du Climat, the work enters into dialogue with issues connected to our relationship with environments, proposing a sensory rather than descriptive approach. The work was created during a research and creation residency at the Abbaye de Fontfroide in Narbonne in 2022, in partnership with MO.CO. Montpellier Contemporain. In the recent context of fires that have affected the Occitanie region, the installation can now also be viewed through an additional reading of the landscape it brings into play. Presented in varied contexts — notably in the chapel of the Abbaye de Fontfroide, in a disused space as part of Lille 3000, and through a glass facade overlooking public space as part of SOL !, la biennale du territoire #3 in Montpellier — the installation adapts to each space, adjusting to its conditions to offer a singular immersive experience. With the support of the Académie du Climat, Rencontres Audiovisuelles, the Abbaye de Fontfroide and MO.CO Montpellier Contemporains.
