À propos

Korean contemporary art through traditional Korean colors.

Painting, Installation, Sculpture Korea associates five colors — white, black, red, yellow, and blue — with elements, seasons, creatures, and values. At a time when color is often reduced to a matter of taste or marketing, the exhibition Colors of Korea invites us to reconsider its meanings. Traditional colors appear here as a language in their own right, revealing the sensitivity and identity of the artists while connecting the individual and the universal, nature and humanity, past and present. These ideas unfold in contemporary art through a variety of media and forms of expression. The exhibition is organized around four themes. “Traditions in Motion” brings together works by Lee Ungno and Yeesookyung, revealing the continuity between heritage and contemporary creation. “Nature and Imagination” explores, through works by Kim Taek Sang and Woo Hannah, the relationships between natural traces, vital energy, and sensory experience. “Great Korean Masters in France and Beyond” highlights major figures such as Kim Tschang-Yeul and Park Seo-Bo, reflecting the international expansion of Korean art. Finally, “Art and Technology” explores the interactions between artistic creation and contemporary innovations through works by Kim Yunchul and Anicka Yi. Bringing together artists from different generations, from painting to digital art, the exhibition offers a multifaceted reading of Korean chromatic aesthetics. It opens up a reflection on the artistic forms of today and tomorrow, at the intersection of tradition, sensitivity, and contemporary technologies. Curated by Haeyoung-Yoomine Kim (exhibition curator), Boram Jung (assistant curator), Valentina Buzzi (associate curator), Dominique Moulon (associate curator). In partnership with Korean Air, LG Electronics, Beaux-Arts Magazine, Galerie Almine Rech, Nonghyup.
