A work exploring truth through playful animation
Video, Music Do you know Plato's allegory of the cave? It tells the story of people who see only shadows and mistake them for reality. When one of them finally looks beyond them, they discovers that the shadows are only illusions and that reality is far richer and more complex. But when they return to share their discovery, the others do not believe them; they refuse to see the truth. The animated short film Science as a Pillar of Trust (Science, a Pillar of Trust) by Slovak artist duo Ové Pictures reinvents this classic story and reflects today's world, where misinformation, half-truths, and lies spread at uncontrollable speed. It emphasizes that, even today, it is essential to cultivate critical thinking, fact-checking, and the defense of truth. On the journey from illusion to knowledge, science emerges as a pillar that provides the tools needed to distinguish reality from fiction and explore reality with eyes wide open. At the same time, it poses a challenge: how can we avoid being fooled by shadows, and how can we find the courage to seek and accept the truth? Screening of the animated film until midnight.
