PUNCHLOVE (10:00 PM) (Art rock - New York, US) Punchlove is the experimental art rock project of multi-instrumentalists Jillian Olesen, Joey Machina, Ian Lange-McPherson, David Moberg and visual artist viz_wel. Quietly evolving from Jillian Olesen’s bedroom project, born during the COVID-19 pandemic, into an essential synesthetic live phenomenon, this Brooklyn-based quintet blends densely layered, emotionally wrenching noise-pop with immersive performance and production, creating vast, original modern alternative rock tinged with digital touches. Their debut album, Channels (Kanine Records, 2024), marked a major turning point, praised for its visceral depth and opening a new chapter of creative intensity. Known for concerts that combine projection, lighting, live sampling and installation, Punchlove has been hailed as “one of Brooklyn’s best live bands” (Brooklyn Magazine) and praised by Under the Radar for creating “a genuine moment of collective, breathtaking wonder” during their 2024 FOCUS Wales debut. With a melancholic, immersive sound designed for live performance, their music is now much closer to that of emerging London bands like keo, bleech 9:3, or radio free alice, with a confident, finely crafted grunge-shoegaze approach. On stage, DIIVAGUE offers an experience that is melodic, visceral, rhythmic, energetic and contemplative all at once. Emotional, resonant and spectral vocals, guitars drenched in liquid, modulated saturation and a burning, feverish, abrasive rhythm section come together to form music full of contrasts, where incandescence meets the ethereal.
