The Comité d’histoire de la Ville de Paris is partnering with the musée de la Libération de Paris - musée du Général Leclerc – musée Jean-Moulin to offer an evening seminar devoted to the history of the International Brigades and the forms of solidarity then forged between Paris and Spain.
The year 2026 marks the 90th anniversary of the start of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) and of the commitment to the International Brigades, in which very many Parisians took part. Newly available archives and recent research are providing a better understanding of the history of international volunteering in Spain, as well as helping to trace the paths of commitment taken by these Parisians. This event is part of the program accompanying the exhibition Robert Capa, photographe de guerre at the musée de la Libération de Paris - musée du Général Leclerc – musée Jean-Moulin. The evening’s talks: Presentation of the database listing Parisians who joined the International Brigades, compiled by ACER Claire Rol-Tanguy, secretary general of ACER (Les Amis combattants en Espagne républicaine).
