The repertoire draws on a shared imaginary folklore where a wide range of popular music from the 20th century—and especially from around the world—intertwines. From Piazzola to Grappelli, from Brazil to musette waltzes, the two acrobats pull off a genuine tour de force: always remaining upright, without a net or support, like two tightrope walkers. Their constant risk-taking never prevents them from expressing their sensitivity and the raw lyricism of true melodists. Eric Séva has been one of the leading saxophonists on the French music scene since the 1990s. A longtime member of Didier Lockwood’s band and a musician for Chris Rea and the Orchestre National de Jazz, he has pursued a career as a bandleader since 2005, recording seven albums that have received unanimous critical acclaim. A trombonist with the bands of Claude Nougaro, Manu Dibango and Tony Allen, co-leader of a quintet with Thomas De Pourquery for 17 years, and founder of a trio with Vincent Peirani, Daniel Zimmermann has received several Victoires du Jazz nominations for his albums as a bandleader.
