The Conciergerie invites you to dance!
Performance, Music, Reading, Writing The Literary Ball is a collective writing format created by writer Fabrice Melquiot. On the eve of the literary ball, four writers will meet in the secret spaces of the Conciergerie. Together, inspired by these surroundings, they will put together a playlist of 8 songs: hits embedded in collective memory, from the 1950s to today. Starting from their observations of the titles in their playlist, the writers of the literary ball will imagine a serial story in 8 episodes, created in situ and in the moment. Each writer will take on 2 of the 8 episodes. On the day of the literary ball, the writers will dive into writing the serial story, following three constraints: Each episode will begin with a free echo of the song that comes before it in the playlist. Each writer must cast their fellow writers as readers in the episodes they write. Each episode will end with the title of the next song in the playlist. The writing for the literary ball will finish shortly before the meeting with the audience. The Conciergerie will be transformed into a dance hall for one evening, and the 4 writers will become readers of the still-warm texts written within the walls of this legendary place, in the heart of Paris. It is a ball taken over by literature; it is literature taken over by celebration. Since they were created nearly twenty years ago, the Literary Balls have brought together around a hundred writers in more than ten countries. Nearly 550 literary balls have already taken place around the world. - Concept: Fabrice Melquiot - With: Emmanuelle Destremau alias Ruppert Pupkin / Mona El Yafi / Marcos Carames Blanco / Yacine Sif El Islam - Show time: 8:00 PM – duration 1 hr 15 min.
