Late-night exhibition opening, guided tour, and performance.
Performance, Exhibition On the occasion of Nuit Blanche, the Cité internationale des arts is offering an exceptional late-night opening of the exhibition "Les Voix se lèvent", which explores the voice as a space of resistance, care, and transformation. In a context marked by the rise of populism, the expansion of artificial intelligence, and the multiplication of conflicts, speech appears more than ever as a political, social, and sensitive issue. Bringing together artists from different generations and geographies, including several who have been hosted in residence at the Cité internationale des arts, the exhibition presents a range of sound installations, paintings, projections, and performances. Together, these works question the mechanisms through which speech is confiscated, distorted, or controlled, while opening paths toward its reclamation. They invite us to consider the voice in all its plurality: breathing, shouting, whispering, singing, poeticizing. The practices presented are rooted in specific cultural and social contexts, while also drawing on ritual forms, vernacular traditions, and experimental languages. Here, the voice becomes a tool for transformation: it can repair, resist, and also bring forth other imaginaries and other ways of being in the world. As part of this exceptional evening, a tour of the exhibition will be offered at 7:30 p.m. by co-curator Zdenka Badovinac, providing insight into the works on view. At 8:30 p.m., Tilhenn Klapper’s performance "Lament, auditórium" will take over the auditorium of the Cité internationale des arts. Bringing together a gwerz (Breton lament) with the energy of hardcore punk, this performance reactivates sound archives and collective forms of mourning, moving between the intimate and the public. It also enters into dialogue with the history and very function of the auditorium, considered as a space for listening, gathering, and resonance. The exhibition will be open until midnight. Through this program, the Cité internationale des arts affirms its role as a refuge for contemporary creation, where multiple voices can unfold freely and connect with the world. In partnership with: Kunsthaus Graz ; Forum culturel autrichien Paris ; Ambassade de la République de Slovénie à Paris and France Médias Monde Curated by: Zdenka Badinovac, Nataša Petrešin-Bachelez. Please note: the event takes place in two spaces, the Galerie d'exposition (from 7 p.m. to midnight) and the Auditorium (from 8:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.). Only the Auditorium is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
