MAIF Social Club and Sonorium invite you to discover Animal Collective’s superb musical film “Tangerine Reef.”
Welcome to a Sonorium session! Make yourself comfortable and listen to a full album in high-fidelity sound. Each session is hosted by a specialist who introduces the album, shares the context behind its creation, and offers ways to listen more deeply. Released in 2018, Tangerine Reef is an experimental audiovisual album by Animal Collective, created in collaboration with the duo Coral Morphologic, made up of marine biologist Colin Foord and musician J.D. McKay. Through ambient and psychedelic sounds, it evokes the fragile beauty of coral reefs and raises awareness of their degradation. The work blends floating soundscapes with ethereal vocal harmonies, creating an immersive and contemplative experience, accompanied by a superb film made up of hypnotic visuals of corals in motion. Both artistic and ecological, Tangerine Reef is an ode to marine nature and a call for its preservation.
