À propos

For the first time on place de la Bastille, a temporary village dedicated to archaeology is opening its doors for the Journées européennes de l'archéologie. Free, outdoors, designed for all audiences, it’s the must-attend event of the weekend!

Organized by the institut national de recherches archéologiques préventives (Inrap) and the Pôle archéologique de la Ville de Paris, the village is setting up this year on place de la Bastille for three days. On the program: workshops, demonstrations, exhibitions, and meetings with archaeologists, plus plenty of other stands! Workshops, exhibitions, talks: a full lineup! Come meet the archaeologists of the Ville de Paris! These “experts” on the past study and interpret different types of clues (ceramic fragments, animal bones, human remains, small metal artifacts, seeds, etc.) to better understand the daily lives of Parisians in the past. Try your hand at these fascinating scientific fields through demonstrations and hands-on activities. Younger visitors can even step into the shoes of a carpologist and identify seed and fruit remains discovered during real excavations. A permanent exhibition will also be available on site!
