Nono, 10 years old, has always dreamed of throwing a gigantic Fiesta with his group of friends. Because at 10, you are neither quite little anymore nor quite grown-up. He has even prepared a speech he will give about the world as he sees it, as he dreams it! But that is without counting on the arrival of storm Marie-Thérèse, which sweeps across the country.
Four friends meet every year to bring back to life and celebrate their mysterious childhood friend. For them, it will be a chance to relive a very special year: Nono, 10 years old, has always dreamed of throwing a gigantic Fiesta with his group of friends. Because at 10, you are neither quite little anymore nor quite grown-up. He has even prepared a speech he will give about the world as he sees it, as he dreams it! But that is without counting on the arrival of storm Marie-Thérèse, which sweeps across the country. By order of the authorities, the population must go into lockdown. Nono finds himself alone in his building, and his group of friends in the building opposite. Will the party take place? How can they keep communicating? For each of them, this lockdown will be an opportunity to question and learn to live with the anxieties and dangers of the outside world, and to feel just how essential love and friendship are. The show Fiesta was born from the proposal by Hédi Tillette de Clermont-Tonnerre and Lisa Pajon to give me the opportunity to stage a young-audience show at the Théâtre de Verdure du Jardin Shakespeare. Familiar with contemporary writing, I wanted to bring Gwendoline Soublin's text to audiences, a work born in the wake of the Covid lockdown. Her dynamic writing, both narrative and dialogue-driven, offers several levels of interpretation and reveals the different transformations children undergo at the age of 10: their rich imagination, their need to take the drama out of reality, and their gradual awakening to it. Through a playful stage device that will evolve over the course of the performance, we will show the courage and friendship of these children, and the joy adults find in summoning up their childhood again.
