Connecting through flowers: The motto of the Sogetsu school is: “Anytime, anywhere, by anyone.” It is also based on the idea that ikebana can be created with any material.
Plants come from nature, but in the Sogetsu school, it is believed that “ikebana belongs to the person who creates it.” However beautiful it may be, a flower remains a work of nature. When human sensitivity and intention are added to it, a different kind of beauty appears, one that is unique to ikebana. In this workshop, participants will go beyond a simple introduction, taking the time to observe plants and shape their own form of expression. This workshop is open to anyone interested in ikebana and eager to explore a free approach beyond traditional forms. Instructor: Rica Arai
