"Les voyages de Paul et Simone": a forum theater performance for seniors on the themes of mobility and social connection. By the company "Soleil sous la pluie"
Les voyages de Paul et Simone is a show written following a series of meetings held with residents of Meurthe-et-Moselle, on the themes of mobility, social connection, and the loss of independence among people over 60. It is followed by a discussion with the audience. This project continues the work begun with Tango et Chocolat (2008), Dans tes bras (2011), and Nouvelle Saison (2017). It is supported by the Conférence des Financeurs de Meurthe-et-Moselle, de l’Essonne, Carsat Nord-Est, and the department of Seine et Marne. If Paul had not asked Simone for directions, they would never have met. Without realizing it, they are both at a turning point in their lives: he, a former motorcyclist turned pedestrian, is rediscovering the city and its pitfalls; she, a passionate driver living in the countryside, is losing her visual abilities and refuses to admit it. Over the course of their encounters, a friendship develops. Their bond will help them stay on track and navigate the change. How can you keep a taste for freedom and independence when your mobility declines? How can you maintain social connections when it becomes difficult to get around?
