VEPS (10:30 PM) (Indie pop - Oslo, NOR) Norwegian indie quartet Veps earned critical acclaim, both internationally and at home, from the age of 17 for songwriting with an uncommon maturity. Having known each other since primary school, Helena, Laura, June and Maja formed the band at age 14. Barely three years later, they had signed with the American label Kanine Records and were performing at benchmark festivals such as The Great Escape, By:Larm, Reeperbahn and many others. Their brilliant debut EP “Open The Door” paved the way for their equally excellent debut album “Oslo Park” (produced by Matias Tellez). Many singles have received major support from Spotify, and both UK radio stations (BBC 6, Amazing Radio) and their Norwegian counterparts NRK P3 and P13 have played several of their tracks. https://veps.bandcamp.com/music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YeM1W2LeLiE JUDY BLOOM (9:30 PM) (Indie rock - Artistic Palace Records - Paris, FR) After getting his press card, Judy Bloom was on track to write articles. Instead, he writes songs. A singer, guitarist and drummer, the Parisian artist champions an indie rock project where vintage sounds sit alongside more modern arrangements. From his earliest demos, born in his student bedroom in Berlin, Judy Bloom has explored music tinged with melancholy and raw sincerity, inspired by genre pioneers such as Elliott Smith, Radiohead and Beck. With his debut EP Bench Warmer, Judy Bloom fully pursued his self-taught obsession: a project written and composed solo, with a simple but sufficient home-studio setup, and introspective tracks sometimes recorded on his phone. For Hush, it is a different story. Although he wrote and composed his new songs himself, he brought them to life in the studio with longtime friends. Recorded live with a drummer and a bassist, Hush is a new chapter: rockier, more spontaneous. Fewer arrangements, more noise. The turning point this year is happening on stage. After opening slots at la Maroquinerie and la Boule Noire last year, Judy Bloom fully intends to draw attention to Hush while opening for Lilly Wood and the Pricks across France, as he did at POPUP du label on March 30. Slightly folk ballads, auto-tuned melodic lines, disco-pop rhythms and shoegaze surges - in French lyrics. Since the release of a first EP in January 2023, the band has been making a name for itself on stages in the Paris region and across France. Bleu Couard tells stories for the evening, about everyday fears, changing bodies, and being a child growing up. There are dragons, movie stars, the dying king, and that strange horse dreaming of running through the wide open spaces of North America. But we stay in France, watching the sun rise and set from our bedroom, and sometimes we dance there. These are some of the stops along the journey that the band likes to tell on stage and in the studio, while currently working on the production of a debut album.
