In her solo show, Entre mère et ciel, writer and performer Laetitia Moréni turns her roots into a liberating joy, set to music improvised on stage.

What if our origins were not our destiny? In this autobiographical solo show, Laetitia Moréni transforms her roots into a true creative force. Between a story of family ties and the legacy of immigration, she untangles the mother-daughter bond, as well as her connection to her father’s rural and Italian heritage, in an attempt to break free. But how do we shed the weight of the past? How do we stop feeling guilty? And in the end, guilty of what? Guilty of betraying our own people, of not doing things the way they do, or simply of wanting to become who we are? On stage, the writer’s voice and improvised music come together, moving toward liberation like a rite of passage at every performance. Depending on the date, Laetitia Moréni enters into dialogue with a different partner: guitarist Tom Escobar (until May 28), cellist Anna Litvinenko (June 4 and 18), or pianist Léonard Pelletier (June 11 and 25). Here, musical improvisation is not a backdrop: it is the driving force of a necessary metamorphosis, pulsing with the actress’s breath. Through poignant memories and offbeat digressions, drama rubs shoulders with lightness, inviting us into a true catharsis. An invitation to transform our own stumbling blocks and share, together, an explosion of joy.
