From April 16 to October 24, 2026, the Fondation Dubuffet presents the exhibition “Impulses. Jean Dubuffet, the Final Years (1974–1985),” bringing together more than 150 works by the artist.
In 1974, after bringing the L’Hourloupe cycle to a close, Jean Dubuffet, then over 70 years old, embarked on a new chapter in his creative journey. Over ten years of intense production, he explored previously uncharted artistic paths, moving freely between figurative and non-figurative art. Between 1974 and 1985, he produced more than 1,500 paintings and 1,000 drawings, organized into around twenty series. This late period reflects the freedom of his gestures and the unwavering boldness that characterized Jean Dubuffet’s practice.
