From June 11 to 14, 2026, the Place de Clichy and Boulevard de Clichy neighborhood will host a new edition of the Mix!Cité festival, dedicated to Joséphine Baker around a powerful theme: “From jazz cabarets to the dream of the rainbow tribe.” From May 7 to June 7 - Draw Your Joséphine Drawing contest for children ages 5 to 15, in tribute to Joséphine Baker We are offering young people a “Draw Your Joséphine” contest in partnership with the Librairie de Paris from May 7 to June 7. This initiative invites children to engage with the figure of Joséphine Baker in a sensitive and creative way, helping make the festival a space for participation, imagination, and transmission. Children and teenagers can drop off their drawing at the Librairie de Paris, Place de Clichy. Join us on Saturday, June 13 at 12 p.m. for the award ceremony with Marianne Bouillon-Baker, Joséphine’s daughter. Wednesday, June 3 - Joséphine’s Table 8:30 p.m.: Let’s celebrate Joséphine Baker’s birthday together As a prelude to the festival, we are delighted to celebrate Joséphine Baker’s 120th birthday on June 3 with a festive evening organized in partnership with restaurants near Place de Clichy. Titled Joséphine’s Tables of Universal Fraternity, the evening will feature a special menu and an artistic surprise, in a spirit of conviviality, sharing, and support for the artists performing during the festival. Beyond its artistic program, Festival Mix!Cité Place Clichy aims to make this tribute to Joséphine Baker a powerful moment of social connection, local celebration, and civic engagement, in service of a lively, open, and united neighborhood. We will follow the thread of Joséphine Baker’s history, from the Casino de Paris to the Folies Bergère, through a heritage journey highlighting the places, memories, and artistic resonances connected to her path. Participation: 40 euros 6 p.m.-8 p.m.: Opening Evening at Cinéma Pathé Wepler Opening evening at Cinéma Pathé Wepler. We are pleased to invite you to the inauguration evening of the 5th edition of Festival Mix!Cité. It will be an opportunity to present the 2026 program A festive moment of exchange, presentation, and testimonials from Joséphine Baker’s children, Jean-Claude and Brian Bouillon-Baker. “From jazz cabarets to the dream of the rainbow tribe...” Meet on June 11, 2026 – 5:45 p.m. – Cinéma Pathé-Wepler (entrance at 8 avenue de Clichy) Friday, June 12 - Passing It On 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: The Other Joséphine Screening and discussion at the Cinéma des Cinéastes around the documentary “L’autre Joséphine” by Philip Judith-Gozlin and Brian Bouillon-Baker. This documentary won an award in 2025 at the Festival International France-USA, Cannes D-Day. This intimate portrait traces the lesser-known sides of this bold and enthusiastic woman. Participation: 7 euros 3 p.m.-5 p.m.: Collage & Writing Workshop Workshop led by La Fille des Carnets around Joséphine Baker and all her many sides: boldness, energy, fantasy, a touch of extravagance, faith in humanity, universal fraternity, courage, loyalty, love... A gathering to create together and share stories in images and words. Using materials gathered from magazines and newspapers, I will guide you with precise, themed, timed prompts. With collage, the mind rests, the senses awaken, and the cutout results become a pretext for expressing, inventing, and telling stories. We will make the images speak! Meet at the Librairie de Paris, place de Clichy. Free admission. 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m.: Behind the Scenes of the Moulin Rouge, Women’s Stories. Behind the scenes of the Moulin Rouge through women’s stories: Joséphine, Mistinguett, La Goulue, three icons of freedom. Discover the history of the Moulin Rouge through three women cabaret artists whose journeys continue to inspire today. Meet in front of the Moulin Rouge 15 minutes before the tour begins.
