Formed by saxophonist Émile Parisien, the outstanding international quartet FLOATING celebrates the release of its album—an invitation to travel and dream through uncharted landscapes.
It is no exaggeration to say that soprano saxophonist Émile Parisien has become a source of national pride over the course of a twenty-year career marked by major collaborations. Listing them all would be like mapping out a jazz scene that is both welcoming and demanding, open to adventures and sounds from around the world. The multi-award-winning musician continues to explore this path with FLOATING, a new project patiently nurtured during a two-year residency at the Théâtre de la Cité Internationale. Émile Parisien is joined by three exceptional musicians: based in Paris, Israeli pianist Yaron Herman moves between jazz, rock, electronic and classical music; born in Malaysia and based in New York, double bassist Linda May Han Oh plays in Pat Metheny’s quartet while also leading her own projects; a leading figure in Indian percussion in France, Prabhu Edouard has collaborated with musicians as diverse as Jordi Savall and Jeff Mills. His tablas give FLOATING’s compositions an unmatched hypnotic warmth and delicacy. Spiritual and spellbinding, the quartet’s music is best experienced live, ahead of the highly anticipated release of an album in September.
