Aurélia Lüscher and Estelle Meyer take on a text by Spanish playwright Paco Bezerra in a colorful evocation of Sainte Thérèse d'Avila!
What if Thérèse d'Avila, Spain's patron saint and the first woman to be proclaimed a Doctor of the Church, returned to us? What if this mystic, canonized after facing the wrath of the Inquisition, were resurrected ahead of time? What if, after her relics scattered across the world had been recovered, she devoted herself to a new life, roaming the margins of contemporary Spanish society, as defiant and free as ever? This is the bold and witty premise devised by Spanish playwright Paco Bezerra and brought to the stage by director Aurélia Lüscher, with Estelle Meyer performing and singing. Lüscher is known for her taste for unapologetically iconoclastic productions and inventive stagecraft. Meyer is known for her fire and passion, spirituality and fervor. Both share a commitment to women's struggle for equality and freedom, as well as a belief in theater as ritual. Accompanied by music from DJ and composer Deena Abdelwahed, their collaboration promises a high-intensity production that turns the theater into a place where all miracles are possible…
