As part of Saison Méditerranée 2026, we present a double bill showcasing two equally powerful and compelling Lebanese choreographers, Khouloud Yassine and Nivine Kallas.
A leading figure on the “new” Lebanese scene, Khouloud Yassine creates choreographic work that examines gender performativity and the impact of hypermasculinity on the representation and objectification of the female body. In Drill Baby Drill, one of Donald Trump’s campaign slogans, she explores the cold brutality of a world dominated by militarized, sexual, and athletic codes of power, and how these models shape our collective imagination. On stage, the dance unfolds as a continuous flow of transformations, in which precise gestures, postures, gazes, hybrid figures, and driving rhythms reveal the influence of codes of virility, sometimes pushing them to the point of grotesque exaggeration. The accumulation and layering of movements convey a sense of saturation, reflecting our image-saturated reality.
