“TORNMUSIK – for sculpture” is a sound sculpture designed by Amina Hocine, presented at the Institut suédois in dialogue with a concert at the église du Saint-Esprit (Paris 12) as part of Nuit Blanche. Together, these two forms make up a single project centered on the idea of “vertical music,” exploring time, space, and sonic perception.
At the Institut suédois, the work takes the form of a circular organ installation. Broadcasting sound in every direction, it engages the body in movement and encourages active listening: as the audience moves around the sculpture, they transform their perception and influence the listening experience through their position in space. The work continues at the église du Saint-Esprit, where the architecture and resonance of the venue become integral components of the piece. Amina Hocine is a composer and sound artist based in Stockholm. She is particularly recognized for her work with a self-built modular organ, which she has presented on numerous stages across Europe. Her music draws on immersive textures, minimalist and spiritual foundations, and psychoacoustic effects she calls Sound Crystals. Her work explores the interaction between space and sound, both acoustically and perceptually. She composes works for performers as well as acousmatic pieces. Her most recent creation was presented at the INA grm FOCUS festival in April 2025. Her debut instrumental album, ātamōn, was released on the Subtext label in July 2025.
