L'APRES (Association pour la Recherche et l'Étude du Surréalisme) presents a staged reading by Charles Gonzales, “Histoire vécue d’Artaud-Mômo,” Artaud’s lecture at the théâtre du Vieux Colombier on January 13, 1947, followed by a lecture, “Génica Athanasiou: Antonin Artaud’s anti-muse,” by Laurence Meiffret. Introduction by Michel Carassou.

On the program - Histoire vécue d’Artaud-Mômo, a staged reading by Charles Gonzales, actor, director, and playwright: Artaud’s lecture at the théâtre du Vieux Colombier on January 13, 1947. - Lecture by Laurence Meiffret, author of the biography of the same name (Non Lieu, 2025): a look back at the life of Génica Athanasiou, the young Romanian actress who was Artaud’s partner, on stage and in life, for several years. It traces a fascinating journey while also evoking the most innovative theatrical experiments of the early 20th century. Introduction by Michel Carassou. - Readings of texts by Antonin Artaud by Charles Gonzales. Learn more Michel Carassou is a French editor and writer, a specialist in the literary avant-gardes of the 1920s and 1930s, particularly Dada and Surrealism. Charles Gonzales is an actor, director, playwright, and essayist. He trained at the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique in Paris, in the classes of Pierre Debauche and Antoine Vitez. He has performed under the direction of Jean-Louis Barrault, Roger Planchon, Jorge Lavelli, Gérard Gélas, Lannis Lordanidis, Hans Peter Cloos, Jacques Kraemer, Michel Fagadau, Jean-Louis Martinelli… He wrote, directed, and performed a trilogy: Camille Claudel, Thérèse d'Avila, and Sarah Kane. Laurence Meiffret holds a doctorate in art history, is a medievalist and exhibition curator, and is known for her in-depth research and publications, particularly on Génica Athanasiou, Antonin Artaud’s anti-muse. Organization Françoise Py is president of the association l'APRES. A poet and writer, she was a lecturer in History and Theories of Art at Université de Paris 8, in the Visual Arts department. She has written numerous articles on Surrealist painters, sculptors, and writers, notably in the digital journal Mélusine.
