Take part in a discussion session during the presentation of an INRA and Ifremer study on the impact of food labels on biodiversity. An event for professionals, decision-makers and local authorities, as well as anyone interested in food systems and their environmental impacts.
Attend the presentation of the findings of a scientific study on the impacts of food labels on biodiversity. This study was carried out by a group of researchers (led by INRAE and Ifremer) with a view to implementing environmental labeling on food products (Loi Climat et résilience). The study documents the biodiversity component, focusing on production practices across a sample of labels in agriculture, aquaculture and fishing. Ecologist and economist researchers from MNHN and INRAE will take part. The presentation will be followed by discussions among scientists. Registration recommended Many labels, such as organic farming, the Haute valeur environnementale (HVE) label, and sustainable labels for fishing sectors (e.g. MSC) or tropical supply chains (e.g. Rainforest Alliance), already promote practices that benefit biodiversity. Are these promises justified, and what guarantees are provided to consumers? This is what will be discussed during this round table bringing together the scientists: - Emmanuelle Pocher and Colin Fontaine, ecologists at the Museum national d’histoire naturelle - Didier Gascuel, lecturer-researcher in marine ecology at l‘Institut Agro de Rennes - Catherine Donnars of INRAE, who coordinated the BiodivLabel study (INRAE-Ifremer) - Christophe Alliot, director of Basic More information on the Académie du Climat website
