Vocal jazz — American-Swedish with Parisian roots, Clara Barry enchants with a bold repertoire blending standards and original pieces, while celebrating the richness of jazz and musical heritage.
American-Swedish and raised in Paris, Clara Barry loves bringing her multiple heritages into conversation through her repertoire. In keeping with the history and creativity of jazz, she explores music in a spirit of creolization. From American jazz standards to Brigitte Fontaine and Gabriel Fauré, she performs a rarely heard repertoire where humor, poetry, and swing intertwine. Inspired by artists such as Blossom Dearie and Betty Carter, she has a fondness for songs with rich harmonies and infectious rhythms, telling stories with wit, tenderness, and depth. Accompanied by a trio of close-knit musicians, she performs these melodies with authenticity, in a concert where the grandeur of American jazz enters into dialogue with the finesse and poetry of the French repertoire. Line-up: Clara Barry: vocals; Simon Chivallon: piano; TBA: double bass; TBA: drums. The 38Riv Jazz Club is an intimate venue in the heart of the Marais (38 rue de Rivoli, Paris 4e), dedicated to jazz and improvised music.
