As early as the 18th century, the BnF’s archaeological collections served as objects of study for the scholars of the time, and the question of the context in which they were discovered gradually became an important issue for understanding the objects and their ancient uses. Guided tours and workshop-tours During the European Archaeology Days, collection managers from the BnF’s Coins, Medals and Antiquities department will bring to light the often little-known discovery contexts of selected works during guided tours and workshops in the BnF museum. - Curator’s View – Guided tours for the European Archaeology Days - Book for June 13 - Curator’s View – Guided tours for the European Archaeology Days - Book for June 14 - Little Scribe workshop-tour: The workshop offers a journey back to the time of ancient Egypt. In the museum, children and adults discover this brilliant civilization, as well as the profession of the scribe and the secrets of hieroglyphs. In the workshop, under the gaze of Thoth, god of writing, children write their first name in hieroglyphs on papyrus. Book - Myths and Heroes workshop-tour: Inspired by the gods and heroes of Greek antiquity, children create their own card game. As they meet Heracles, Ulysses, Achilles, Hermes, Athena, Dionysus and many others in the museum, they assign each one a card with characteristics and strengths (protection level, rank, strength, life points, etc.). At the end of the workshop, it’s time to play, and may the best player win!
