For its 9th edition, the “Danse élargie” competition continues its exploration of new forms of movement and contemporary creation, on stage and in public space, place du Châtelet.
Saturday, June 6 & Sunday, June 7 – Place du Châtelet Created in 2010 by Boris Charmatz, Emmanuel Demarcy-Mota and the Fondation d’entreprise Hermès, the competition opens its doors to artists from all disciplines and nationalities. In 2026, a new dimension takes over place du Châtelet, inviting artists to “rewrite the city” through innovative and collective proposals. This edition will combine indoor performances and outdoor creations, in a dialogue between art and urban space. The project is carried out with the support of Cndc - Angers, La Comédie de Valence and CCN-Ballet de Lorraine. Saturday, June 6 - 10:30 AM - 1:00 PM | Dance | Public rehearsals - 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM | Danse élargie Competition Sunday, June 7 - 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM | Dance | Workshop led by Ashley Chen DISCO CHAOS: Ashley Chen (cie Kashyl), collaborator with the company Terrain - Boris Charmatz, draws on themes from his upcoming piece, La Croissance exponentielle des petites erreurs, to explore chaotic dynamics through a participatory workshop. Artists Peggy Grelat Dupont, Elena Lecoq and Boris Charrion will also take part in the dance. After a guided warm-up and the sharing of simple choreographic material, participants will be divided into different groups to bring forth, on place du Châtelet, a massive, free and joyfully chaotic dance. - 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM | Danse élargie project performances
